RELATIONSHIP MATTER’S: Building Our Resilience

Newsletter 2018, continued
On May 12, 2018 NIAAS Core Group leaders organized a powerful daylong gathering of local, regional and national leaders of color to connect local and national strategies around immigrant/African American solidarity. People’s Institute co-founder Ronald Chisom remarked that in all his international and national experience, NIAAS is a singular effort that tries to bring together African Americans and immigrants of color to learn from each other, attract mutual support, and work for a common purpose.
NIAAS is a community-based initiative led by people of color to build solidarity between African Americans and immigrants of color through dialogue, relationship-building, outreach, education and action.
